Moving
furniture and household goods to the UK is,
without doubt, one of our specialities, and a
service we have been successfully carrying out since the early
1980's. Consignments
can be collected from anywhere in Andalucia,
stored in our clean, secure and fully containerised warehouse if
necessary, and then loaded onto the next available
Britannia truck. Part loads(min. charge of 3
cubic metres) and full loads are catered for. On the
collection day, our foreman will make a full and
detailed inventory of the goods, and every item
will be labelled accordingly so that you can check
off everything at destination. An inventory is a
fundamental component of any international move
and should never be overlooked. Although time
consuming to elaborate, it serves as a receipt of
the goods we collect and is essential in case of
any possible disputes or insurance claims.

Our
pre-move surveyor will specify in the quotation
the estimated volume of the consignment, a
description of the items to be moved, the type of packing included(full
export pack, van
blanket wrap, just breakables or packed by owner),
the collection and delivery addresses, access
conditions at origin and at destination, the type
of service (i.e. door to door, door to depot), the
planned moving dates, specialized packing
requirements, storage needs(Spain or UK) and, of
course, the insurance formalities. Our quotations
are binding agreements, not rough guesses or basic
prices with "hidden" extras, so you won't have to
worry about how long we take to pack your
belongings or how many boxes and bubble wrap we
use.

Frequently asked questions:
1. How do I arrange insurance
cover?
Britannia's policy covers
you against all
insurable risks of loss or damage from the
time we take charge of your belongings until
they are delivered to your destination.
Giving you comprehensive cover through a
major international insurer, Britannia's
insurance is great value for money. It couldn't be easier to take out Britannia
insurance. Simply complete the proposal form
after studying the ‘Notes for Guidance’ inside
the cover. Make sure you keep the final copy
of the proposal form so that you can check
what you have insured.
The full Insurance Terms and Conditions,
including exclusions, are printed on the
reverse of your insurance proposal form and
should be read carefully.
Please talk to our expert staff if you need any
advice or assistance.
2.
Why do moving estimates vary so much in price?
When receiving quotations from different companies,
you should carefully examine what is and what isn't included in
the estimate. Misleading advertising together with client unawareness can lead
to undesirable outcomes. Here are some points to consider:
- Have you received a written quotation?
If you've
only asked for a rough price over the telephone and not obtained anything in
writing, you could be exposed to "unexpected" charges on delivery. If a price
seems too good to be true, it probably is. You should never agree to a verbal
contract.
- Does the quote include professional packing and
materials?
Quality packing materials along with the time needed to carefully wrap
and pack full households significantly contribute to the overall cost of a
move and should not be ignored. Quotations that don't include this service can
be up to 30% less expensive.
- Have you been offered adequate insurance cover?
If a company offers
you free insurance, it will certainly only be transit insurance. This won't
cover you for breakages, damages or missing items during loading and
unloading. Only reputable companies are able to provide an All Risk cover
subject to the client completing a proposal form. Insurance is calculated as a percentage of the declared value of
the goods and is never "free".
- Have you been quoted for
a door to door service?
A common way to attract customers' interest
is to advertise the cheapest service available(depot to depot). Generally, this is a rate per
cubic metre and doesn't include any packing, boxes, insurance or VAT. There is
also a minimum charge which usually isn't mentioned. You are
expected to take the goods into the mover's depot yourself and collect them at
the other end too. You are simply paying for a transport service not a
removal.
- Have you been underquoted?
If you haven't
received a binding quotation, which should include a list of the goods that
the mover agrees to move for a determined price, you could end up paying more
than you were anticipating. A mover can underquote you on purpose or by
accident then claim for extra money because the end volume of the consignment
doesn't correspond to the volume quoted. This is very common with online
estimates which, unfortunately, only give you a rough idea of the total
cost(see the Terms & Conditions).

Moving
Tips:
|
|

Using coloured labels is quite
a successful way of ensuring
everything gets put into the right place(i.e. a red dot on all the furniture and
cartons for the lounge, and a red dot on the lounge door).
You can also mark all the boxes with a marker indicating which
room you would like them to go in. |
|

|
|
Mark
any boxes that contain food items, or anything else that
could spill such as bottles, toiletries
and cleaning
fluids with "THIS END UP",
including arrows pointing up
on all four sides of the box. Bear in mind
that spilled liquids can cause major damage to other goods
in the load, not just the ones contained in the box. |
|
 |
|
Save space and money by dismantling awkward items such as ceiling fans, gym
equipment and garden furniture. Self-assembled or diy furniture can also be very large in volume and may need
to be taken apart for moving purposes. Keep all the screws, bolts, etc. in a secure place and remember to
make notes for reassembling purposes. |
"Very helpful crew. Nothing was too
much trouble and I would be very happy to use Southern
Storage again and to recommend to others".
